Description: You can use this adapter to connect to your E220 modem. If you use your cell phone as a modem; this will also improve your the signal. Most cell phones do not have a plug or jack for an external antenna; this universal adapter will work.

This version comes with a SMA (f) connector.

Coupler development for E220

Sounds mad, but is not really that impossible to link to the E220. Rather then connect with a connector you "couple" using a device which you place against the modem and it couples to the internal antenna and absorbs the signal. It is in turn connected to an external antenna via a cable and there you go!

We have in fact patented a device to do so and sell it for use with normal cellphones (many which also do not have any external antenna connector nowadays) and also the E220 modems. The ADPT-024 was in fact specially engineered for 3G band, but it is designed to work for the two voice bands (900 and 1800 MHz) and also the UMTS band (2000 - 2200 MHz).

We have had a number of people who have tested the prototype with their E220's and when linked to a high gain antenna  finds that it improves signal.

    You know what is even more amazing? I haven’t even mounted the antennae yet ! LOL – its vaguely pointing in the direction of the tower, and is currently sitting on my desk !! HAHAH So – NO you cannot have it back ;-)

    Antenna installed ~ 3m above apex of roof (cement tiles), ie ~8m above ground. Distance to Mast ~2km Visual contact (line of sight) = no. Ridge and houses, trees, etc., interfere. 5m extension cable used. Cellphone = SAMSUNG Blackjack. Average connection speed w/o antenna = E (Edge) Average connection speed with antenna = H (HSDPA) Accessing 256kbps stream flash from http://reebok.co.za/ (eg Amelie Mauresmo clip), the stream is rock solid. When viewing the 700kbps stream, it is a bit glitchy. 256kbps is usually OK for 512k ADSL reception.... Keith Joubert - K-LPDA-A0021-01

    I phoned Poynting Direct about 2 weeks ago and spoke to Lara, in essence what I told Lara was that the LPDA antenna and 3G coupling device work like an absolute charm, after picking up the kit from Poynting on Wednesday I did a quick trial setup by mounting the antenna alongside my exisitng TV antennas, I then coupled the 3G coupling device alongside my Huawei E220 modem which was plugged into my laptop and surprise surprise, my 3G signal went from 0 bars all the way up to 5 bars. I spent time on the weekend mounting the antenna and directing the cable through the roof, the setup is now fully in place and I have the same result - 5 bars worth of 3G signal, a speedtest done using Speedtest.net revealed that the impact of using the antenna. The speedtest indicated approx 1200 kbps download and about 84kbps upload, a further test downloading a 7 meg file indicated a download rate of 200kbs, which meant that the total 7 meg file was downloaded in 40 seconds- wow!! The area I live in has several cellphone masts scattered around the area, however, it is densly populated with trees and buildings which ultimately impacts on my cellphone and 3G signal, this product it has changed this around completely, I now have perfect signal and a fast and reliable means of internet connectivity, with stats to prove that it works. Thanks a mil for an excellent product I would recommend it to anyone who is struggling with the new USB 3G modems or even using a cellphone for a 3G connection, this product is definitely worth it.     I have a cellphone booster antenna with a ADPT-024 and velcro strip with a cable. This antenna has changed my cellphone reception very well. I need more antenna's for my office, and other farm house. KZN

    All was OK except that I had the adaptor on the wrong side. Now that I have changed it to the logo side I have redone tests and verified that the setup is working here in my room, for now I get two bars on my Vodafone Mobile Connect signal, and it registers as a steady -99dBm using the E620 software tool. I have also verified that it tells the tower to keep the signal strong, rather than the 4 to 6dBm fluctuation that I see with just the modem alone (ie. between -109 and -105 as I reported before, though I did see -111 sometimes). I have yet to test re pointing the antenna in a major different direction, for I am reasonably confident that it is pointing to where the tower is most likely to be given the geography of where I live. Trying to find out precisely was a four stage phone call with Vodafone and then they couldn't tell me! The E620 tool tells me that the GPRS signal comes from 'Bray Park' wherever I am in my yard, and my antenna is pointed in that direction. I will probably get to do more testing, but for now I am happy that the antenna setup is definitely working and a 6 to 10dBm increase with a steady two bars is a definite improvement.
