1. Grid Dish Kit - 5 GHz - 31 dBi Gain
SKU
K-GRID-003-06
Technical Specifications here.
Assembly Instructions here.
Description: The K-GRID-003-06 is a 5 GHz Grid Dish Antenna. It has a 90 cm x 70 cm grid reflector which yields an impressive 31dBi of gain. This antenna is unique in its excellent performance at the high frequencies since the grid density was from the start optimised for use in this band. Many earlier competitors used 2.4 GHz reflectors which “leaks” considerable energy when used in the 5 GHz band. This parabolic 90 x 70 cm aluminium grid antennas is considerably lighter. The design is such that the grid is moulded in two halves (split-design) which results in a 65% reduction in packaging volume. The feed design also optimises aperture efficiencies which gives significantly higher gain when compared to similar grid antennas.

FAQ
The orientation of the feeder is not totally clear?
The orientation shown in the Packing Checklist is indeed correct. The front plastic cover on all our 5GHz feeds are horizontal, but the actual feed PCB inside is vertically polarised, ie the same direction as the elements on the grid. Below is another picture of the correct orientation of the feed. The wrong orientation will most definitely degrade the performance of the antenna as the feed element would then be cross polarised relative to the reflector and thus no energy will be reflected.
Also note that the plastic cover on our 2.4GHz feeds are different, they will be orientated in the same direction as the elements on the feed.
In terms of trees and houses in the way, you will have to experiment a bit to see if and how much of a difference it will make. It would not be possible to predict before-hand which orientation will be better.
